Racial & Cultural Identity Counselling

Our identities—racial, cultural, spiritual—shape the way we see the world and how the world sees us. They influence our relationships, our sense of belonging, and how safe we feel to be ourselves. But when those identities are met with misunderstanding, judgment, or discrimination, it can create deep emotional wounds.

You might be feeling the exhaustion of constantly code-switching, the pain of not being accepted in spaces that should feel like home, or the frustration of navigating systems that weren’t built with your realities in mind. Sometimes the struggle is internal—feeling caught between cultures, unsure where you fit, or carrying the unspoken weight of family and community expectations.

In our work together, we can make space for the complexity of your lived experience. This includes the joy, pride, and strength you hold in your identity, as well as the hurt, confusion, or anger that may also be there.

As a therapist with South Asian heritage and a deep understanding of bicultural and immigrant experiences, I know what it’s like to navigate multiple worlds at once. I also work with clients from all racial and cultural backgrounds, creating a space that honours each person’s unique story.

Racial and cultural counselling can help you:

  • Process experiences of racism, discrimination, or microaggressions

  • Explore and embrace your racial, cultural, and spiritual identity

  • Navigate feeling “in between” cultures or disconnected from your roots

  • Address intergenerational and historical trauma

  • Balance cultural values with personal boundaries and choices

  • Build resilience and self-trust in spaces where you may feel unseen or undervalued

Your cultural identity is not a problem to solve—it’s a powerful part of who you are. Therapy can be a space to honour it, untangle the pain connected to it, and move toward a deeper sense of belonging, both within yourself and in the world around you.
