Conception, Pre-natal, & Postnatal Counselling

The journey to becoming a parent—whether through conception, pregnancy, birth, or adoption—can be filled with hope and joy, but also uncertainty, loss, and emotional overwhelm. For many, this path looks very different from what they imagined.

Pregnancy, fertility, and the transition into parenthood can awaken emotions that are often unexpected and difficult to hold. Alongside hope or love, there may be fear, grief, numbness, shame, or a sense of disconnection from your body or from yourself. These experiences are not signs that something is wrong with you. They are often meaningful responses to what you have lived, what you are carrying, and what your system is trying to protect.

This work invites a gentle turning inward. Rather than pushing away distress or trying to fix it, we slow down and listen to what your emotions and bodily responses are communicating. Together, we explore how present experiences may be linked to earlier relationships, past losses, or long held ways of coping that once served you but may now feel limiting. The pace is careful and respectful, guided by curiosity rather than judgement.

You may find this support helpful if you are:

  • Struggling with fertility challenges or the emotional toll of medical treatments.

  • Living with the grief of miscarriage, pregnancy loss, or stillbirth

  • Feeling anxious, low, disconnected, or overwhelmed during pregnancy

  • Navigating a high risk pregnancy or the impact of a difficult or frightening birth

  • Adjusting to new parenthood, including sleep deprivation, changes in identity, and shifts in close relationships

  • Experiencing intense worry, sadness, or intrusive thoughts after birth

  • Carrying cultural, familial, or unspoken expectations around pregnancy and parenting

Many people feel pressure to feel grateful, joyful, or fulfilled during this phase of life. When your inner experience does not match these expectations, it can lead to silence or self doubt. Here, there is room for the full truth of what you are experiencing, without the need to minimise, justify, or explain it away.

Your needs and emotional world matter in their own right, not only in relation to a baby or a hoped for future. By tending to your inner experience with care and compassion, we create space for greater ease, self understanding, and a more supported transition into whatever this chapter of life holds for you.
